Each time I write something it feels like the very first time. Well, definitely because I do disappear for a long haul. Another reason is that no two days are the same, and that's why each time I write I am definitely not in the same headspace as the last.
However, today I am just going to reminisce a wholesome day spent in South Bombay looking for an outfit, for a friend, to be worn on her convocation accompanied by another friend. And, that's not a riddle. It was basically the three of us.
Everyone knows I love shopping, but very few know that I love shopping for others more than I do for myself. That's therapeuatic for me. However, if I have to shop for myself then it's only a therapy when I am accompanied by my mom & maasi.

So, It was the three of us- Akanksha, Aditi & I. Before I go on, you must know a little about their personalities as well. Akanksha is an investment banker, one of the 350 in India. She loathes shopping but loves me more and that's why she wanted me to accompany her. Aditi, is an artist and she was here because, we love to give company to one another as and when we can. I'd like to believe that Akanksha and Aditi met each other for the first time. However, I felt like the odd one out that day.

We met at a fancy restaurant because where else do you meet in South Bombay, right? Akanksha was working. That's what investment bankers do ALL THE TIME.
Meanwhile, Aditi and I conveniently took the local after shopping to our hearts content from Irla. So much so, that we had to buy another bag to fit in all the stuff that we bought. Safe to say, that bag was the Aladdin's Chirag.
Thank God, I wasn't overdressed that day because we covered the entire distance on foot, from the station to the restaurant because all the Mumbai taxiwalas probably thought they were in Delhi- refusing to take us without even letting us complete the entire sentence. This, was just the beginning.
We all know that the heart and mind is prepared for a siesta after a perfect meal. We braced ourselves for just the opposite. Our next stop was a store that thankfully had AC and it was probably that one time in life I really appreciated the store's policy to keep the extra baggage aside. We got rid of the five kilos we were carrying around. All set to choose the perfect outfit for Akanksha's convocation- an all white attire. Something, that we thought we could easily find in this ethnic store. After having looked for what seemed like 10,000 hours, we just couldn't find anything that fit well and looked elegant. For an outfit, you cannot really compromise on either. However, Aditi and I found something for ourselves and ended up shopping. Sigh!
So, we then decided to explore the local market. Found a Chikankari store that claimed to sell authetic chikankari work but was far from it. By this time, all three of us had lost out on quite a bit of our patience and the only coping mechanism we had, was to laugh out loud. Literally. After, yet another unsuccesful but hilarious experience, we wished to head back to the store. Why? Because we left our 5 kilos bag at the store, intentionally so. I needn't tell you why. We were definitely not walking back, the quota for the day was done. Then, began yet another adventure of finding a 'kaali-peeli' back. We stood there for a good 20mins and by that time we were convinced that all the Delhi cab drivers had probably relocated to Mumbai. Then, we decided to stand at three different points to find that one taxi which would take us back. And. we did!! Oh, Thank God! That entire ride back was a blur because the only thing I remember is laughing uncontrollably.

The day didn't end there but you must know, we did find the perfect outfit. We then visited another store and finally decided to head home where I waited for a good half an hour for an AC local that wasn't even supposed to arrive that day.
I am sure this piece of writing reminded of you one such day in your life and I'd love to hear all about it in the comments!
